Dear Cedar Ridge Parents and Guardians:

Thank you for your attention to district communication regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and our district plans. The health of our students, their families, and our staff members is our utmost priority.

The Arkansas Department of Health and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education have instructed Cedar Ridge Schools to close beginning Tuesday, March 17 and to reopen on March 30. Since there is no reported case of COVID-19 locally, we will have school tomorrow, March 16.

Since Cedar Ridge Schools must close, the district has received approval from the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to use Alternative Methods of Instruction days. The elementary and high school have prepared assignments to be used during closure. For more information, please visit our Elementary School AMI webpage or High School and Middle School AMI webpage. Paper packets for K-5 students will be available for pick up in the agri lobby.

Students should make every effort to complete an AMI packet daily Tuesday - Friday. This work is required to be completed. The attendance will be credited based on the number of AMI packets submitted.

Wifi Access: Outdoor hot spots to connect to the internet will be announced on the district website as soon as they are available.

Athletic Events: Athletic games will follow requirements from Arkansas Activities Association (AAA). AAA has cancelled all activities through March 30, 2020.

Food Access: Food bags will be available for pick up in the agri lobby.

Building Access: No access to any building, including the gymnasiums, will be permitted by
anyone.

The district will continue frequent and preventative measures following the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for health and safety. Every facility surface area and buses will be sanitized and prepared for employees and students to safely return.

Should you or your family come in contact with an individual exposed to the virus, travel to an affected country, travel abroad a cruise ship, or show signs of the COVID-19 virus, please communicate by phone or electronically with your healthcare provider and with your principal prior to your student’s return to school. You may be impacted by quarantine procedures, typically for 14 days.

For accurate school information and updates please check the Cedar Ridge Schools website and download the district app on iPhone or Android. Thank you for your attention, your flexibility, and for being prepared. We will continue to monitor and communicate as information becomes available. We are doing all that we can to provide the best care for our children.

Sincerely,
Dr. Andy Ashley
Superintendent
